Enlightenment

I’m currently reading an Almanac of World History. Best line so far: “…the Yuezhi disliked the Xiongnu, in part because the nomads had killed the Yuezhi king and used his skull as a drinking vessel.”

It pales in comparison, however, to this passage from my college photography textbook:

“The sun, although large, is so far away that it appears small.”

The mind, it boggles.

    I think just about any quote from John Madden would fit here. Something like “When this guy runs down the field and isn’t caught he scores a touchdown.”

    The history almanac also helpfully included the invention of the kaleidoscope in its list of awesome inventions/discoveries and gave credit to the guy who named oxygen–not the guy who discovered it, but the guy you named it, and named it erroneously at that.
