It’s a Book Thing

Not so much progress on the reading of six books today. Because first this happened:*bookshelf

And then today, LibraryThing happened. Fourteen of those cubes above yielded 233 books. And did I mention that we have two more (smaller) bookshelves?

The list of Best Ideas Ever has now been expanded: Google, New Seasons, cinnamon in coffee, and now LibraryThing. It’s books and it’s organization and it’s the organization of books. I’m dead, right? I have died and I have gone to heaven.

I’m including both Stephan’s and my books in my list, and Stephan is always happy to learn of his economics books that are owned by only one or two other people. Which I find interesting, because our other conversation of late has been potential baby names,** his favorite is planted firmly in the top 10 list of all baby names, ever, and this is totally fine with him; it just means that everybody loves it and, ergo, everybody will adore our child.

(For the curious and/or those who would like to weigh in in the comments, the name in question is “Hannah.” I do not like it, for reasons unknown even to myself. Lucky for me, my vote is this area is weighted heavily.)

My mom always tells me that her default name for me was Ethelbert. I think we’ll keep that one on hand, just in case.

* Eagle-eyed viewers will have I-spied, from left to right, a box of Xango, a Big Ben clock belonging to my great- or perhaps great-great-grandfather, train bookends made for Stephan by his sister in woodshop, and the photo albums atop which I sometimes have to hide the hardback library books from Spencer because he likes to eat the protective plastic coverings. Sorry, whoever checks out that one world almanac, though I dare say that his wee teethmarks are quite less horrible than the blue-pen underlines and margin notes proclaiming “term paper” sprinkled liberally throughout.

Oh, and then the paper flames I created for Stephan’s bike to make it go faster.

** Sorry, grandparents-elect: still 6 to 11 years.

It has come to my attention that most people named Hannah aren’t usually nice people. But then again that has just been in my life.

I just noticed the snapshot feature. That’s really cool. And I thought you were stealing Emma Pearl as a name from me.

    Not Hannah: 101
    Hannah: 1

Looks like the not-Hannahs have it.

Also, I was going to tell you that if you want Emma Pearl, you better hurry up and make that baby before I do, but my threats are invalid because Emma’s number 2 in the country, and we just can’t have that.

You are my book hero! My only wish is that I can one day be as amazing as you!

Matt: Stephan just wishes you weren’t a liar.

Lori: Oh, you. Final count: 618. I should tag them according to which are mine and which are Stephan’s; he has more than I realized!
