I’m excited for the iPhone. I will probably not ever buy one, but the hype and the waiting in line for days really highlight two of the best things about America.
1. People respect and usually uphold the “first come, first served” rule.
2. There are people out there who are cashing in on “first come, first [...]
One of my new library books is A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius. I’ve only read the (lengthy) Rules and Suggestions for Enjoyment of This Book, Preface to This Edition, Acknowledgements, and Incomplete Guide to Symbols and Metaphors, but I haven’t been this excited to read a book in a long time. I haven’t read [...]
About as good a day as possible with Stephan out of town.
First, though, there was sadness at work because I listened to sappy music from our reception list on the iPod this afternoon. And it turns out that Stephan is the meaning in my life; he is my inspiration.
But then it was Library Day! Five [...]
My dad learned how to drive at the same age at which I learned how to ride a bike (8 years).
One cannot, by definition, be a good parent if one forgets to feed one’s children just because it is the job of one’s husband who happens to be out of town.
It was nice and warm today: a balmy 80 or so degrees (F). Don’t tell my dad, but walking home in the sun kind of made me want to do yardwork.
I’m not sure what it was about the nice warm sun today that inspired this bizarre desire. Although I would estimate a full 80 percent [...]
I like to think that my parents were in charge of Katie Beta. Moving out of their house marked the release of Katie 1.0, and getting married bumped me up to Katie 2.0. Not like there was anything lacking in previous versions; the new ones just have more features you never knew you were missing.
Standard [...]
So we have these two cats who are adorable. The reason we have two is that when one of us is home alone and sad, we have one kitten to wipe away the tears from each eye.
At least that’s supposed to be how it works. I have not had a single tear mopped up by [...]
Finally, finally, my own personal Adobe CS3. Its purchase–or some version of it–has been on my list of things to do for approximately 5 years, but it was not until Stephan’s insistence that I actually did something about it. Good job, me.
And so, Internets, I give you this wee bit of randomness recently created:
You are [...]
You would not believe what I have to go through when Stephan is out of town: I have to wash my own dishes, people.
So not worth being the sole recipient of cat affection.
