Okay, Internets, here’s the deal: so busy lately. In the last month, we’ve moved to a new town, Stephan spent 3 days in Prague, and I spent 3 weeks working in London.
The Highlights
Best Indian food ever (Zaika in London. Included tomato ice cream.)
London Eye (Accompanied by an excellent and lengthy London walk)
Successful bus riding (I hate the bus; it makes me nervous. First you have to make sure that you’re getting on the right bus at the right time, and then how do you really know where the driver is taking you?)
First snow of the season!
Settling into our semi-detached house with back garden and accompanying shed (Houses our clothes dryer. Nice and cozy; just waiting for an appropriate hobo to move in.)
Voted early and voted often (Okay, just the early part. Though we could have tried to vote often as well: the elections office sent our regular ballots to my parents’ address, which they forwarded to us, and also sent overseas ballots directly to us. Expatriate votes: apparently twice as important as regular type!)
And for Your Own Personal Edification

Ten Years Ago (1998)
1. I was a junior in high school.
2. I was 4 months away from dislocating my knee on Valentine’s Day, which would require surgery and consequent physical therapy to fix.
3. I was unlicensed to drive and so relied on the mobile kindness of my brother and Tony, right up until he almost got a speeding ticket and used it as an excuse to make up a story about his mom not letting him drive people around anymore.
4. I was the Self-Proclaimed Dictator-for-Life of the I Hate Poetry Club, a year before the unsuccessful coup to unseat me.
5. I went on my penultimate mission trip to repair homes in Appalachia, along with the kid who would later accidentally run over my best friend’s mom, breaking her wrist, in the parking lot of a Sonic in Chattanooga.
